Strengthening Emergency Response in Arivaca
The Arivaca Fire District Auxiliary supports the firefighters and medical personnel who serve one of Southern Arizona’s most remote communities. Through grants, fundraising events, and community involvement, the Auxiliary helps provide essential equipment, supplies, training, and resources that are not fully covered by the district’s budget.
Serving a wide rural area near the U.S.–Mexico border, their work ensures that first responders have what they need to deliver safe, effective emergency services. Every effort strengthens the readiness of those who protect and care for the Arivaca community.
Our Mission
The Arivaca Fire District Auxiliary raises funds to support the Firefighters and Medical personnel at the Arivaca Fire Station. We supplement the AFD budget for items that are not funded, or are underfunded: items such as station supplies and medical supply consumables; the purchase, repair and maintenance of firefighting and medical equipment; PPE and uniforms; education and certification programs.

To assure that our Firefighters and Medical personnel have the equipment, supplies and skills to efficiently and safely provide emergency services to the Arivaca community.
Who Do We Serve?
By association with the Arivaca Fire District, our service area covers about 600 sq miles, from mile post 13 on the Arivaca Road, down to the border with Mexico, to Sasabe. Arivaca's population is approximately 600 permanent residents, and fluctuates seasonally. Residents live on remote grassland and mesquite covered properties, or in homes in the Arivaca Townsite. The residents are a mix of ages and physical abilities, with the majority being retirees. There is a recent influx of younger people interested in developing the community and the Auxiliary will partner with them as possible to continue our promotion of awareness of the Fire Department and our fundraising activities.
Our Impact
The AFD Auxiliary has been successful in receiving grants to fulfill our mission of providing support to the Arivaca Fire District. Some of the grants have enabled the Auxiliary to purchase replacement equipment needed by the AFD to be in compliance with Arizona State regulations regarding equipment age and safety. These upgrades allow the District to participate in fire suppression incidents that generate income for the District.
