Our Mission

To unite and enrich the Santa Cruz Valley through the annual Tubac Day of the Dead Procession and Event by upholding four core pillars:

Cultural & Borderlands Unity: Celebrating our shared heritage with Aztec dancers, Folklorico groups, and performers from both sides of the border.

Youth & Educational Engagement: Empowering local students and youth groups through cross-border musical exchanges and living history.

Participatory Community Art: Transforming our historic setting into a living, moving gallery of procession art, costumes, and face painting that includes every attendee.

Regional Economic Vitality: Boosting local commerce by connecting regional visitors to local artisans, vendors, and Tubac small businesses.

Our Program

Now entering its 11th year, the Tubac Day of the Dead Procession and Event is a cornerstone cultural tradition that bridges communities across Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico. Managed by local business leaders under the fiscal sponsorship of the Santa Fe Ranch Foundation (501c3), this free, family-friendly event unites Tubac, Nogales, and surrounding regions through a vibrant community market, cross-border youth musical exchanges, and authentic Folklorico and Aztec dance performances. By transforming the historic village of Tubac into a living, participatory performance art gallery—complete with an inclusive Catrina Contest and a bustling market of 30+ local vendors—the event preserves cherished Día de los Muertos traditions while driving vital economic development and tourism for the Santa Cruz Valley.

Who Do We Serve?

The Tubac Day of the Dead Procession and Event serves more than 3,500 residents and visitors throughout the Santa Cruz Valley, including Tubac, Rio Rico, Tumacácori, Amado, Ambos Nogales, Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tucson, and neighboring communities in Sonora, Mexico. Our free, family-friendly event brings together a diverse, intergenerational audience, with a special focus on youth, seniors, cross-border artists, local artisans and small businesses, and low-to-moderate-income families. By removing financial barriers to participation, we create an inclusive celebration that preserves cultural traditions, strengthens cross-border connections, and enriches the entire borderland community.

Our Goals

1. Sustain Full Public Accessibility

Secure outside funding so that 100% of the event—including access to performance stages, the procession, and park grounds—remains entirely free for local families, seniors, and visitors.

2. Direct Honorariums for Borderland Artists

Ensure fair financial compensation for over 50+ performers, dancers, and youth musicians who share their living cultural heritage with our community.

3. Youth Health & Hospitality

Raise enough targeted funds to nourish every student performer on event day, expanding our meal program to serve 175+ young participants.

4. Strengthen Civic & Economic Infrastructure

Maintain high standards of public safety, sanitation, and municipal compliance to comfortably accommodate 3,500+ attendees and support 30+ small business vendors.
