Parkinson's Support Group of Green Valley

Help Us Build a Stronger Workforce for Our Community

The Parkinson Support Group of Green Valley (PSGGV) is a 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit that enhances the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson's disease and the family members and care partners who support them. Serving Green Valley, Sahuarita, Amado, Tubac, Rio Rico, Arivaca, and the greater Santa Cruz Valley, PSGGV offers a comprehensive network of programs designed to help participants remain active, engaged, and connected throughout every stage of the disease. Through exercise classes, cognitive activities, educational presentations, support groups, social events, and access to valuable resources, the organization fosters a welcoming community where individuals can find encouragement, friendship, and practical tools for living well with Parkinson's. Operating from its Parkinson's Activity Center in Green Valley, PSGGV also works to expand community awareness, reduce isolation, and ensure that more people affected by Parkinson's discover the support and services available to them. Every program is made possible through the dedication of volunteers who are committed to helping individuals and families face Parkinson's with confidence, resilience, and hope.

Our Mission

The mission of the PSGGV is to promote awareness of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) throughout our community, while providing support, through mental stimulation, social engagement, physical activities and educational access for those afflicted with the disease and their care partners, and finally, to assist the scientific community in improving treatment options and finding a cure for the disease.

Our Vision

Our vision is to increase community awareness of PD and of the PSGGV. There are many people in our community who have PD and their loved ones who are living with the disease but do not know it or do not realize that support is available. We believe that everyone living with PD should have the opportunity to benefit from the programs that PSGGV offers to maintain quality of life. We also plan to continue adapting our programs according to the needs of our members.

Our Program

The PSGGV is an entirely volunteer organization that provides a large number of programs and activities balanced across the following strategic areas in support of our membership and the larger community:

a. Mentally Stimulated: Games, theater, and book clubs keep us mentally stimulated.

b. Physically Active: A variety of healthy activities, including physical events such as chair exercise, pole walking, and senior cardio classes, help to slow the progress of the disease.

c. Socially Connected: Regular coffees and periodic luncheons are wonderful for socializing.

d. Knowledgeable About Parkinson’s Disease: There are many lectures and written resources, as well as teleconference presentations and sharing sessions, to keep us informed.

e. The PSG operates a Parkinson’s Activity Center in Green Valley. This small space hosts our offices, meeting room, library, and serves as a venue for small group gatherings.
